Inquiring after the health of Abdul Sattar Edhi during a visit to his residence on Sunday, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah in a bid to recognise the humanitarian’s efforts remarked that his services extended borders, nationalities and faith.

Visiting the legend at his residence in Kharadar, the CM was received by Bilquis Edhi, his wife and co-founder Edhi Foundation, his son Faisal Edhi and other family members.

“He puts the pain and problems of others before his and rushes for their help wherever they may be," the CM said.

Qaim said that people like Edhi were born in centuries. “We are proud to belong to a country that was given international recognition by Edhi,” he added.

Referring to Faisal, the CM said that he was fortunate to have a man like Edhi as his father.

He said the entire nation was praying for Edhi’s early recovery.

CM suspends CSI

Taking notice of a news piece published in this newspaper on May 7 regarding the dismal sanitary conditions around Edhi home, the CM directed chief secretary Siddique Memon to suspend the chief sanitary inspector of district South, Waqar, from duty immediately.

Killing of transgenders

Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on Sunday while condemning the gruesome killing of transgender activist, Alisha, in Peshawar last week, said the community deserved to be equally respected as all other human beings.

The transgender community was never given the acceptance in our society because of our illiteracy.

Expressing the Sindh government’s resolve to bring the community under the fold of mainstream society, the CM claimed setting up three centres for transgender in Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur.

The centres would provide them basic education and computer skills to accommodate them in government departments.

"Mocking someone for their weaknesses, disabilities or their gender orientation does not please Almighty Allah," the CM stated.

He urged everyone to be good human beings by serving the creation of God. “Islam teaches co-existence, tolerance and respect for everyone and preaches its followers the lesson of humanity," he said.
