MINGORA: Siding with the federal government, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) head Maulana Fazlur Rehman said here on Sunday why they those who were demanding a resignation from the prime minister did not force their own chief minister to step down.

He said that the ‘Jewish lobby’ was getting a hold of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province as those staging protests and playing politics over the Panama Papers issue also owned offshore companies.

“Asking the prime minister to step down in the wake of the allegations contained in the Panama Papers is unjustified,” he said while addressing the “Dastar-e-Fazeelat Conference” at the Grassy Ground here on Sunday.

He alleged that those raising a hue and cry over the Panama Papers were the agents of the Jewish lobby in Pakistan. The JUI-F leader said that the agents of the Jewish lobby were also active in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “Conspiracies are being hatched to undermine the religious forces in the province,” he claimed.

Taking a swipe at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman, he said that Imran Khan was supporting a Jew in the election for London mayor instead of a Muslim candidate. “Imran Khan is staging protests to reach the corridors of power at the Centre. He doesn’t care for the poor,” he alleged.

Fazlur Rehman said that his party would not accept the extension of the Customs Act to the Malakand Division. He claimed his party would emerge victorious in the next general election. He said the elite class was exploiting the downtrodden segments of society.
