Islamabad: The employees of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), under the umbrella of Mazdoor Union, have decided to launch a protest drive if their grievances and apprehensions about their future in the wake of local government elections are not removed.
The advisory committee of the CDA Mazdoor Union, which met here on Friday, observed that once again the schedule of the local government elections was announced but so far no protection to rights of employees has been ensured.
The meeting of the advisory committee was addressed by CDA Mazdoor Union General Secretary Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen, Chairman Raja Shakir Zaman Kiani, Aurangzeb Khan and others. They maintained that they were not against the local government elections in Islamabad but employees of the CDA should not be divided.
They regretted that some elements in the government wanted employees to come on roads to get their rights. “We will hold a protest demonstration in front of the Parliament House if our demands are not accepted and issues relating to agreements reached with the CDA Union regarding incentives for employees and regularisation of daily wage and contractual employees are not addressed,” Chaudhry Yaseen said. He said they have made every effort to get their demands accepted but to no avail.
