A large number of students of the Dawood University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) continued their demonstration against the vice chancellor, Dr Faizullah Abbasi, on Tuesday, accusing him of malpractice and unfair distribution of laptops under the Prime Minister's Laptop Scheme.
They alleged that the VC had promised to resolve pending issues of the university, but did not take any step till to date.
They also accused him of increasing the tuition fee.
Owing to the protest, the University Road remained blocked for around 20 minutes which resulted in a traffic jam.
The local police baton-charge to clear the vehicular traffic and reportedly two protestors received injuries.
The protestors announced that their demonstration would only end when the competent authority would sack the current VC.
Meanwhile, a DUET official refused all the allegations and said the claims were incorrect and false.
“The purpose behind is to sabotage the examination, which were started on Monday,” he said. “They are bullying and threatening students who want to appear in the papers and the varsity management has asked the law enforcement agencies and zonal administration to provide security to the students, teachers and non-teaching staff and provide a permanent solution.”
He said the DUET distributed laptops among the position holder students under the PM schme on Saturday with a fair policy.
“State Minister for Communication, Engineer Abdul Hakeem Baloch distributed laptops along with the DUET VC,” he said.
