MIRANSHAH: Five suspected militants were killed and three others injured in a US drone attack in the Zwe Narray area of Shawal Valley in the North Waziristan Agency on Monday.
Official and tribal sources said the drone fired two missiles and struck a compound in the mountainous Shawal Valley near the Afghan border.According to sources, five suspected militants were killed and three injured as per initial information gathered from internal communication of the militants.
It was not possible to ascertain the exact information about the slain militants immediately due to a lack of communication facilities in the area.It is the second time the drone carried out a missile attack in North Waziristan during the past three days where the Pakistan government had launched a massive military operation against the militants on June 15, 2014.
In a previous attack thattook place on Sunday in the same area, sources said seven people, three of them stated to be foreign fighters and four other members of the Punjabi Taliban, were killed and four others injured.
After the military operation was launched in the tribal region, majority of the militants, especially foreign fighters, shifted to the remote mountainous Shawal Valley to avoid losses in the bombing.
