BARA: At least 44 suspected militants were killed and 10 others were injured after Pakistani Air Force (PIA) jetfighters hit their sanctuaries in parts of the Tirah valley in Khyber Agency and North Waziristan
Official sources said on Saturday that 28 suspected militants were killed in the air strikes that were carried out in the Rajgal, Mehraban Killay, Gharbai Kandao and other areas of Tirah valley. Two hideouts of the militants were destroyed in the aerial strikes, the sources added. “The jetfighters pounded the hideouts early in the day in which 28 militants were killed and 10 others were injured,” said an official.
The areas targeted by jetfighters in the remote Tirah valley are considered to be the strongholds of the Bara-based outlawed militant organisation Lashkar-i-Islam headed by Mangal Bagh and the fractious Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
AFP adds: In North Waziristan Agency (NWA), air strikes killed 16 militants, a statement by a military said.
