ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has made it clear that the government has zero tolerance towards corruption, and any official found involved in it at any level would be dealt with an iron hand. He has reminded that the incumbent Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government is working on a 25-year vision to meet the major challenges of energy, economy and terrorism.
Talking to a delegation of PML-N MNAs belonging to the Sargodha Division, Bhakkar, Sahiwal and Multan at the PM House on Friday, the prime minister said the government always believed in and focused on economic and infrastructure development in a transparent manner to ensure the country’s progress.
He recalled that the problems Pakistan was facing were ages-old and it was regrettable that no one tried to find solutions to these in the past. “It is my belief that if we succeed in implementing our agenda, history will remember the PML-N as the party which put Pakistan on the path of progress and development,” he said.
The prime minister, explaining various policies of his government, said that “strengthening of the economy is our topmost priority as increased amount of resources will be generated enabling the country to successfully meet all other challenges.” He said it was a matter of satisfaction for the government that like always there has been no scam or scandal during its tenure.
He said this goes to the credit of the PML-N government that it has decided to take bold steps towards attaining lasting peace and stability in Karachi after having taken all the political parties on board. The prime minister said we want to take all parties along and wish them to play a positive role in strengthening the democratic institutions.
Regarding the energy sector, he said the government is hopeful of adding around 10,000MW electricity which includes 3,000 MW to be imported from China and 3,600MW electricity to be produced from LNG-based plants. This additional electricity would be added to the national grid by 2017 so that the PML-N may fulfil its promise of overcoming the energy shortages in the country, he said.
The MNAs congratulated the prime minister on making policies which have put the country on the road to progress despite huge challenges the country is faced with and appreciated the courageous decisions taken by the government in this regard. Meanwhile, newly-elected Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani also called on the prime minister at the PM House.
Nawaz congratulated Rabbani on assuming his new responsibilities and expressed the confidence that during his term in office, he would play a positive role in strengthening the democratic institutions in the country.
