Arguments sought in cybercrime case

Lahore:An additional district and sessions court on Wednesday summoned the parties for arguments on a bail application moved by a cybercrime accused.

According to the details, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had arrested one Riaz on charges of uploading obscene pictures of a girl on the social media. The accused after his arrest moved the court for bail contending that he was innocent and the agency arrested him without any evidence. The court after receiving the bail application asked both parties to come in the court for arguments by April 12. The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Misbah Khan has issued the orders.

Fraud case hearing adjourned: An accountability court on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of a multimillion fraud case without any development as the authorities did not produce accused before the court due to coronavirus situation. The court has adjourned by May 9.

As per case details, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore had arrested Irfan Ali Shah and Syed Awais Ahmad Shah from Lahore in Rs35.23 million fraud case. According to the NAB, the accused persons used to collect money in advance from general public to give them motorbikes, UPS, LED, etc. but fled the scene after collecting huge money from public. Accused Irfan Ali Shah was director of a private company. He was also a spiritual leader (peer) of Makoana, Faisalabad. Co-accused Syed Awais Ahmed Shah also established some franchises on behalf of that company. NAB Lahore launched verification against the accused in 2015 against a complaint received through intelligence sources and a proper inquiry was launched on the directives of NAB DG Lahore which was converted into investigation in 2016.
