Maryam rubbishes talk of a ‘deal’
By News Desk
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday rejected reports of a “deal”.
Talking to reporters after appearing before the Islamabad High Court (IHC), Maryam questioned the rationale behind striking a deal and said the party is “not stupid to go for a deal after so many hardships and a long struggle”.
Responding to a statement of Prime Minister Imran Khan about talks with the estranged people of Balochistan, the PML-N leader said she was in favour of addressing the grievances of the Baloch, but added that the Hazara community was also from the province and Khan “refused to visit the protesting families until they buried their dead”.
Talking about the forthcoming elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Maryam Nawaz said: “Everyone knows that the position of PML-N is very strong over there and if free and fair elections are held our party will emerge victorious.”
Responding to a question about her absence from the Pakistan Democratic Movement rally in Swat, she said the public meeting was attended by party president Shahbaz Sharif and there was no need for her to also attend the meeting if he was already present.
