Four killed, 18 injured in traffic accidents

Four people were killed and 18 others injured in different road traffic accidents across Karachi on Sunday, according to officials of the police stations in whose jurisdictions the incidents occurred.

A SITE Superhighway police official said Areeb Zahid, 25, was killed and Tariq Riaz, 54, injured after an unidentified vehicle hit their motorbike on the Northern Bypass. The official said they were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH).

A Mauripur police official said Abdul Mannan Yousuf, 30, and Abdul Hameed, 21, were killed after their motorbikes collided with each other on the Northern Bypass.

The official said they were taken to the Dr Ruth KM Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK), adding that both were residents of the Baldia Town neighbourhood.

In Shah Faisal Colony, a motorcyclist identified as Shahrukh Saleem, 30, was killed in a road traffic accident. He was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

An Orangi Town police official said 10 people were injured after a passenger bus overturned in Raees Amrohi Colony after the driver lost control of the vehicle due to speeding.

The official said the injured, who were identified as Hazrat Gul, 60, Sultan, 44, Khan Malak, 35, Abdul Waheed, 30, Huzaifa, 25, Aqib Javed, 25, Mehmood, 22, Nawabzada, 18, Tufail and Atiqur Rehman, were taken to the ASH.

In Mawach Goth, three people were injured in a road traffic accident. The injured, who were identified as Azam Sattar, Shan and Ahsan Saleem, were taken to the CHK.

A family was also injured in a road traffic accident. A man, his wife and their two children were travelling on Sharea Faisal when their car overturned. They were taken to a private hospital.
