Two dacoits arrested, Rs7m recovered
Rawalpindi : Police on Saturday taking a swift action arrested two dacoits and recovered an amount of Rs7 million looted from a businessman in cantonment area the other day.
A police spokesman said the dacoits had looted a businessman near Singapore Plaza in Saddar, the heart of Rawalpindi city and fled away from the scene, whom had been arrested within 24 hours.
Upon receiving the report of the incident, City Police Officer (CPO) Muhammad Ahsan Younas and other senior officers had visited the crime scene.
The CPO constituted expert teams of investigators to trace the big robbery.
The teams through modern technology and human intelligence were remained successful in arresting the dacoits and recovered Rs7 million from their possession.
However, the facilitators would be arrested soon and raids are being conducted for their arrest.
CPO Muhammad Ahsan Younas appreciated SP Potohar and the police team for arresting the accused of big robbery within 24 hours and recovering the snatching amount adding that strict action must be taken against such anti-social elements and criminals.
Meanwhile, an applicant Zahid Akhtar requested the CPO for taking notice of a fraud case and passing necessary directives, as per the registered First Information Report (FIR) to initiate legal proceeding against accused Khurram Shahzad.
The accused had made a vehicle sale agreement with the applicant and gave two cheques amounting to Rs950,000, which were dishonored by the respective bank branch to insufficient balance.
Police have arrested three outlaws and recovered weapons, arms from their possession, informed police spokesman.
Taxila police held Umair Ali and recovered one pistol 30-bore with ammunition from his possession.
Similarly, Jatli police arrested Asim Kayani and recovered one pistol-30 bore with ammunition from his custody.
Kotli Sattain police nabbed Asad and recovered one pistol-30 bore with ammunition from his possession. Police have registered separate cases against all of them and started investigation.
SP Potohar commended police teams for arrest of illegal arms holders adding that strict action should be taken against anti-social elements.
The police have arrested two members motorcycle lifter gang and recovered three stolen motorcycles from their possession, informed police spokesman on Saturday.
During course of action, Naseerabad police arrested a two-member gang who were identified as Saqib and Tauseef.
