Hannah Murray recently reflected on her shocking experience being in a wellness cult that transported her to the hospital.

The Game of Thrones star told The Guardian in a recent interview that she became part of an exploitative cult in order to gain fitness and ignored things such as crystals or yoga, which ultimately triggered an intense psychotic episode that landed her in a mental health unit.

Calling to mind, Murray shared, “There's not enough critical thought about wellness. It's easy to go, ‘Well, that would never happen to me,' but we do ourselves a disservice when we start saying that, because you don't know.”

“I was well educated, from a middle-class family; everything should have been fine. I thought, ‘I'm smart. I make good choices.' Well, I made terrible choices. But it's important to understand why people do these things, rather than going, ‘Oh, they must be idiots.' Or, ‘How stupid could you be?’” she explained.

The 36-year-old Retired English actress shared that she joined the organization after meeting an “energy healer,” Grace, on the set of the historical crime drama film Detroit because its “violent and dark” themes left her “trembling with adrenaline” as well as gave her nightmares. Such incidents made her quickly confide in Grace.

She quipped, "I hear so much, 'We need to talk more about mental health.’ What they mean is, like, anxiety and depression. We're all happy to talk about that. But there's such a taboo around the idea of people who are sectioned. They are beyond the pale."

"It felt really important to say, 'I went through this.’ Lots of people go through this. That doesn't mean they are bad or f***** up forever,” Hannah Murray noted.
