PCB to assist ICC in Yasir’s case
KARACHI: A day after ICC provisionally suspended Pakistan spin maestro Yasir Shah for allegedly using illegal performance enhancing drug, PCB announced that it will fully assist the ICC in arriving at a fair and just outcome.
“PCB has a zero tolerance policy towards the use of prohibited substances in cricket and has in place a strict regime which monitors and regularly imparts education relating to the ICC anti-doping code,” a PCB release said.
“Pursuant to receipt of the notice of charge issued by ICC to Yasir Shah, PCB will examine the circumstances surrounding the alleged charge and shall fully assist the ICC in arriving at a fair and just outcome,” it added.
ICC on Sunday announced that Pakistan’s bowler Yasir Shah has been charged with an anti-doping rule violation under the ICC Anti-Doping Code.
The sample Yasir provided in an in-competition test, which was conducted on November 13 2015, was found to contain the presence of chlortalidone, a Prohibited Substance which appears in Section 5 of the WADA Prohibited List (in the category of Specified Substances).
In accordance with the ICC Anti-Doping Code, pending the outcome of the disciplinary process, Yasir has been provisionally suspended.
The matter will now be dealt with in accordance with the process set down in the Code. ICC has also announced that it will make no further comment on this matter until such time as the process is resolved.
