Governor again asks for prompt payment of compensation to affected families
Sindh Governor Imran Ismail has once again asked the Pakistan International Airlines to expedite the process of the payment of compensation to the bereaved family members of people who lost their lives in last year’s tragic crash of PIA flight PK-8303 in Karachi.
He made the request on Thursday when he chaired a meeting at the Governor House to review the progress on affairs related to the payment of monetary compensation to the legal heirs of the victims of the PIA plane crash.
PIA Chief Executive Officer Air Marshal (retired) Arshad Malik attended the meeting via video-link. The meeting heard a briefing on the money paid to the heirs of the victims and the leftover cases in this regard whose compensation claims are still being processed.
The governor asked the PIA to complete the process of the payment of compensation to the heirs of people who had lost their lives in the May 22, 2020 air crash. He said all legal complications should be expeditiously removed to provide at the earliest financial assistance to the families affected by the tragedy.
The PIA CEO informed the meeting that all the required steps were being taken to ensure the payment of compensation to the families without any further delay. He said the PIA had filed an appeal in the Sindh High Court in this regard, and the resultant court directives had been sent to the Ministry of Law for their expeditious implementation.
