Maryam calls for open inquiry against ex-judge
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday said former judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui is being punished for speaking the truth. She stressed an independent inquiry against the former judge. She was talking to the media outside the Islamabad High Court on Wednesday. Talking about the case of former Islamabad High Court justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, Maryam called for an independent inquiry into allegations against the judge. She said the court should understand that it is not a matter of a single judge. She said the statement of former FIA DG Bashir Memon showed how the authorities used state institutions for the purpose of political revenge.
She said the international media has informed that the government has given airbases to the US. She said it is a matter of grave concern. Such deals could not be reached through clandestine talks. She said the government has not denied it. She said she would oppose airbases for America in Pakistan.
She alleged that the government has given Kashmir to India. In the same way, it is giving Pakistani land to the US. She said the PTI in order to save its government has resorted to mean tactics.
Maryam said there is no division in the Pakistan Democratic Movement as all parties part of the movement have the same point of view, insisting that they hold the same perspective as is held by PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif. She said the PPP is no longer part of the PDM, adding that she doesn’t think there should be any talk on this issue.
On the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), she said Prime Minister Imran Khan in fact is the NAB chairman. She said the government is doctoring economic figures and informed that her party would make a presentation regarding budget.
She said resignations would work only when all parties resign en masse. The government has reached the pinnacle of bad governance. The government is responsible for the Monday train tragedy in Dharki. To conceal its inefficiency, the government is putting blame on the opposition.
On load-shedding, she said when her party came into power, the country was facing 22 hours load-shedding. She said her party never said that the previous government could not do anything. When the PTI government came into power, there was zero load-shedding. But due to the PTI government’s inefficiency, load-shedding is again increasing.
