Neighbour arrested over cop’s murder

A day after the murder of a cop in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, police arrested a neighbour of the deceased cop for his alleged involvement in the murder.

Police said they had apprehended Tajdar, while his brother, namely Sartaj, was yet to be arrested. According to SHO Shahjahan Lashari, the arrested suspect was a neighbour of the deceased policeman, who was apparently murdered over personal enmity.

The police have registered a case against the arrested suspect and four others on behalf of the deceased cop’s brother, namely Irshad Ali. The police said the murder weapon was yet to be recovered, while raids were under way to arrest the remaining suspects allegedly involved in the incident.

Posted at the Saudabad police station, the cop was murdered in a firing incident that took place near Pehlwan Goth on Wednesday. Abdur Rehman, 42, was taken to a nearby private hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
