A retired government lawyer burned to death at his house in a locality of Surjani Town on Tuesday. Responding to information, rescuers reached the property located in Gulshan-e-Surjani and took the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy. The deceased was identified as 60-year-old Mirza Wajid Syed, son of Mirza Hussain.
According to SHO Iftikhar Ahmed Qureshi, Syed was a retired government lawyer and lived alone in the house as his two sons are in abroad and a daughter lives in PIB Colony.
The officer said neighbourers told police that the victim used to study in candle light usually during loadshedding in the area and it seemed that a fire broke out accidently while he had been studying accidently.
Woman found hanged
A 35-year-old woman, identified as Sajida, wife of Fazal Khan, was found dead at her house located at Ansari Muhalla in Baldia Town within the limits of the Ittehad Town police station.
Her body was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi for an autopsy. Police said the police found the woman hanged after the family informed them about the incident. Police said that apparently, the woman ended her life while hanging herself from a ceiling fan.
Man found dead
Police found the body of a man in the Nazimabad area within the limits of the Rizvia police station. He was identified as 30-year-old Sajid Khan, son of Mehmood Khan. The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Police said that no mark of torture was found on his body, while they were waiting for the postmortem report to ascertain the actual cause of death.
