Party of the people?

These days Asif Zardari and his party are busy scoring points or making a futile attempt to project themselves as an ‘awami party’. They are lamenting over a cause for which they deliberately did nothing – the power crisis – while they remained in power for a full five years. Instead, they gave this country two prime ministers who are perpetually obsessed with ‘diamond necklaces’ or anything that ‘glitters’.
One may ask all those who are now posing as ‘champions’ of the downtrodden and deprived why these same people were opposed to and are still opposing the construction of the Kalabagh dam – a dam of vital national interest.
