KARACHI: There is a shortage of information technology engineers in Pakistan and youngsters should consider choosing IT as career, said an expert at a business process outsourcing firm on Wednesday.
Nadeem Ilahi of The Resource Group, speaking at The Indus Entrepreneurs Conference said the local market is in need of IT professionals.
Athar Imran of Sybrid said technology is a great tool to get many things done. He said there are many young people with great ideas and skills but the thing which is lacking is the finances. Imran said the government needs to embrace technology.
Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said youth is emerging in various ways. They are effectively performing on various platforms.
Dean Institute of Business Administration Ishrat Hussain said: “When I came out with the business model of IBA, people posed trust in me with their money.”
Hussain added: “I started IBA endowment fund, which is managed by board of directors who are also our donors. We have set up a model, which should move on forever and the system should be intact for future of the institute.”
TiEcon 2015 had various sessions, including technology and advocating technology emergency.
Speakers highlighted the importance of information technology and its role in empowering business, health sector, education and overall societies.
They emphasised on the development of technological ecosystem.
The importance of mentorship, startup entrepreneurship and innovations was also discussed.
Saad Amnaullah of Alamut Consulting highlighted the importance of mentorship. He said there are people who want to learn from the mentors.
He added that t is important to make it easy for the people to start entrepreneurship.
At the event, various entrepreneurs from different segments of the society, including social and corporate sectors shared their experiences with the audience.
