150 orphans attend traffic workshop
Islamabad: Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) Tuesday arranged a workshop for children of Sweet Home in Sector H-9 to acquaint them with road safety tips and better awareness about traffic rules.
More than 150 children attended the workshop where Superintendent of Traffic Police Ch. Khalid Rasheed spoke about efforts of the force in ensuring safe road environment in the city. He also informed them as how special measures are being taken to curb various traffic violations in the city and also informed about traffic rules and regulations.
In a special message of SSP (Traffic) Farrukh Rasheed, the children were told that educational teams of ITP visit various organisations as this exercise is helpful in providing a disciplined traffic system to the masses.
About the performance of ITP, he said that ITP’s personnel have not only helped to establish a disciplined traffic system in the capital but also reduced ratio of accidents. Farrukh Rasheed said that children are our assets and future of the nation and their awareness about traffic rules is crucial for exemplary traffic system in the city.
The education team of ITP also briefed the participants on the history of ITP, the targets given to the force and its achievements, safety measures for pedestrians, road crossing code, use of Zebra crossing and over-head bridge, causes of accidents and how to protect one-self, defensive driving and its requirements, practice to prevent risky situations on road, planning for a long journey, positioning car or lane discipline, right of way on junctions and road markings, safe overtaking, traffic sign boards and traffic light signals and perils of using mobile phone while driving.
Branch Head Madam Farzana appreciated the efforts of ITP for arranging such an informative programme and hoped for further improved performance of ITP in future. She said that children had not only learnt a lot of things in this workshop. Later, the SP presented shield to Branch Head on behalf of ITP.
