LTC to provide free shuttle service for PSL matches

LAHORE: Lahore Transport Company commences free shuttle service on March 20 (today) for cricket enthusiasts to reach Gaddafi Stadium to watch Pakistan Super League matches.

The shuttle service will remain operational for two consecutive days. LTC is plying 30 AC-coaster buses and five AC Hiace Vans for PSL from various parking points located near Gaddafi Stadium. LTC is plying this shuttle service from various parking points, Liberty to Gaddafi Stadium, Rescue 1122 Office Muslim Town Mor to Fifa Gate, Jam-i-Shirin Park Gulberg to Liberty Roundabout, Boys College Gulberg to Gaddafi Stadium Internal Loop, as well as Fifa Gate to Internal Loop of Gaddafi Stadium.

Officials of operations and enforcement department of LTC will be available at various places for the guidance of general public. In addition to this, bus sheds under control of LTC as located at Jail Road, Canal Road and Main Boulevard Gulberg are decorated with colourful flexes to greet domestic and international cricket players.

9th Class exam centre shifted: While different educational institutions around Gaddafi Stadium have been closed down for upcoming matches of PSL 2018, the Lahore Board has also shifted one of its examination centres.

The examination centre at Government College, Gulberg, for the ongoing Matriculation (Class-9th) annual examination 2018, Urdu paper scheduled for March 21 (Morning-Afternoon sessions), has been shifted to Lahore Board’s Examination Centre situated on Lawrence Road.

LGH sets up makeshift hospital: On the eve of eliminators of Pakistan Super League, Lahore General Hospital has established 20 beded temporary hospital at Gaddafi Stadium where all necessary medical facilities would be available to meet any kind of emergency.

According to a press release issued Monday, Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute Prof Dr Ghias-un-Nabi Tayyab visited this hospital and inspected the setup. He was briefed by Medical Superintendent Dr Mahmud Salahuddin and told that including operation theater, blood bank and ECG other medical cover will be there in addition to sufficient quantity of medicines and this facility will remain functioning until the end of the matches.

Moreover, apart from players general public would also be entertained in this temporary hospital. Principal PGMI asked MS LGH to personally monitor there to ensure proper working there. He was informed about doctors, nurses and paramedical staff deputed round-the-clock in the stadium. It is mentionable that in past events it was also credit of Lahore General Hospital to provide medical facilities for cricket matches in Lahore and now again at semi-final of Pakistan Super League LGH would be in service for medical cover.

Minister visits PSL hospital: Provincial Minister for Primary & Secondary Health Kh Imran Nazir has visited a temporary 20-bed hospital set up by Lahore General Hospital at National Hockey Stadium under Special Healthcare Department for providing medical cover to the people during Pakistan Super League matches.

Lord Mayor Mubashar Javed, CEO Health Dr Yadullah, Principal Medical Officer LGH Dr Islam Zafer, officers of health department as well as officials of Rescue 1122, were also present on this occasion. According to a handout issued on Monday, Kh Imran Nazir inspected the operation theatre, ward, pharmacy, blood bank and reviewed the other arrangements in the hospital. Talking to the media persons, Kh Imran Nazir said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, proper arrangements have been made for providing medical cover besides security to the spectators and the officials performing their duties and other staff. He maintained that blood bags and medicines will be available in abundant quantity. He disclosed that on the instructions of the chief minister eight ambulances, 20 motorcycle ambulances and two mobile health units will remain present at Gaddafi Stadium in order to cope with any emergent situation. He said that besides all these arrangements, a six-bed emergency hospital has also been set up at a local hotel. He directed the CEO Health to take good care of doctors, nurses and other staff performing their duties at the hospital and meal should be provided to them by the government. He directed the staff deputed at the hospital to perform their duties honestly.
