MANCHESTER: A British Pakistani known locally as Nabeel Hassan in his 20s has died in Oldham hospital after he was repeatedly stabbed in broad day light in Glodwick (Oldham).

Police say they were called to reports that a man was unconscious and not breathing on Waterloo Street, Oldham, at around 3.20pm. Officers attended and discovered the man, believed to be in his 20s with multiple stab wounds. He was taken to hospital where he sadly died.

Witnesses at the scene say Nabeel was being chased by a car for around 15 minutes before the stabbing and then chased by three men believed to be Africans on foot.

Witnesses described seeing three African men with a 'machete-type knife' in the area at around the same time.

GMP’s Detective Superintendent Nicky Porter said, ”My heart goes out to the man’s family who have sadly had to be informed that their loved one has died.

As the investigation develops, we hope to be able to provide further details but as this only happened recently, we’re yet to gain a full picture of what exactly has happened and ask the public to come forward with any information.”

Members of the local Asian community are both horrified and baffled by the attack. This type of incident is an extraordinary incident in the majority Pakistani area of Glodwick. According to the locals the incident could be altercation related. Nabeel’s parents are from a village in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan.
