PPP MPA’s teenage son dies in Seaview road accident
The teenage son of Pakistan Peoples Party MPA Rubina Qaimkhani was killed and his friend critically injured when their car overturned on Seaview Road on Friday evening.
Fifteen-year-old Hamza Qaimkhani, the only son of Rubina, a serving MPA and former minister, died on the spot while his friend Afsaryab, 16, were injured in the accident which was caused by over-speeding, said Shoaibur Rehman, the SHO of Sahil police station.
According to Rehman, the teenagers were driving a Land Cruiser bearing registration number BF-2779 and due to over-speeding, one of its tires broke away which caused the vehicle to overturn.
He however, said that the actual cause of the accident would be determined following an inquiry. Hamza and his friend were shifted to a nearby private hospital where he was pronounced dead. Afsaryab was said to be in critical condition and undergoing surgery by the time this report was filed.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and other PPP leaders expressed grief over the death of Rubina Qaimkhani’s son, while IGP AD Khawaja has ordered DIG South and DIG traffic to submit separate inquiry reports on the incident in the shortest time possible.
