Ins and outs
The Supreme Court has announced its verdict: Jahangir Tareen has been disqualified while Imran Khan has been cleared. At first glance, this judgement comes as a victory for the PTI because its chief has been cleared by the court. However, the SC’s verdict also marks the party’s defeat as it has lost an important leader.
While the PML-N leaders and workers are celebrating Jahangir Tareen’s disqualification, they have to contend with the court declaring Imran Khan ‘sadiq’ and ‘ameen’. Meanwhile, Imran Khan has to check the assets and sources of finance for all of his party members. Before he lets anyone join the PTI, Imran Khan should check his/her political track record so no one can raise a finger against any member of his party. Since the PTI provides a ray of hope for the youth, Imran Khan must keep a vigilant eye on its internal affairs.
