JIT extends probe to Shahbaz family

 SECP asked to give record of 45 companies directly or indirectly owned by Sharif family members, distant relatives

ISLAMABAD: Finally, the scope of Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has been extended to the family of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and even to many distant relatives of the Sharifs as the JIT has identified 45 companies directly or indirectly owned by them and has sought their complete record from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).

The JIT has asked the SECP to furnish the record of around four dozen companies owned by Hamza Shahbaz, different members of the Sharif family and even distant relatives and cousins of the Sharifs.

The two-page JIT letter to SECP reads;

In pursuance of the Honorable Supreme Court's Order dated April 20, 2017 and Implementation Bench's order dated May 5, 2017 the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), please find enclosed herewith a list of identified companies having direct/indirect link with Respondents No. 1, 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10 (Annexure). In this connection, you are requested to confirm and provide an updated list of such companies and furnish certified true copies of the following forms filed as per laws/rules applicable, from time to time, of all these

 

companies since their incorporation till date:

i. Annual accounts/financial statements;

ii. Form A (annual return of a company having share capital);

iii. Form 3 (Return of Allotments), Form 10 (Particulars of Mortgages, Charges, etc.);

iv. Form 16 (Particulars of Modification of Mortgage, Charge, etc.);

v. Form 17 (Memorandum of Complete Satisfaction of Mortgage, Charge, etc.);

vi. Form 26 (Special Resolution), Form 29 (Particulars of Directors and Officers or any change therein);

vii. Form 31 (Return Containing Particulars of Beneficial Ownership of Listed Securities and

viii. Form 34 (Pattern of Shareholding).

2- Your response in this regard should reach this office by COB Tuesday, June 13, 2017, positively.
