Real democracy

It is cruel to see the people running from post to pillar to get fuel while our hand-picked rulers are enjoying their luxurious lives at the expense of taxpayers’ money. The shortage engulfed the country at a time when the crude oil prices are falling down and the commodity is available in plenty in the world market. But no one has taken responsibility for the crisis and has the moral courage to resign.
Back in the 1990s, India faced a tomato shortage. There were widespread protests. The state government airlifted tomatoes from Iran and made the item available to the general public. Yet it took only one week for the state government to collapse. That is real democracy where the rights of people eclipse all other things. In Pakistan, in spite of so much trouble people are going through, our rulers remain unmoved.
