TCS holds science fair
Rawalpindi
A Science Fair was organised by The City School (TCS), Harley Campus, says a press release. It was creation and brilliance at its best. The unique and innovative projects were based on the theme of the 3R's - reduce, reuse and recycle.
The students came up with novel ideas of converting junk material like newspapers, plastic bottles, metal cans, CDs etc into efficient working models of science and beautiful works of art. The displayed projects included range of simplistic ones like pencil holders, lamps, wall hangings, newspaper art etc from the junior classes to more complex designs of vacuum cleaner and blower, hover boats, electro-magnetic junk collector etc from the senior students.
A large number of parents turned up to witness the scientific genius of these young scientists. Overall, the Fair was echoingly applauded by parents and attendees. The Fair was honoured to have as the chief guest, a well renowned Professor from NUST, Dr. Mohammad Ali Mohammad who is himself a specialist in Nano-Technology. He too explicitly exclaimed how impressed he was with the presentations and expressed how difficult it was to judge the best projects. There was also a Slogan Writing Competition organised for the parents too. The event reminds us what William Arthur Ward once said, "If you can imagine it, you can create it. If you can dream it, you can become it."
The Head, Mrs Shagun Irfan said that she was of the firm belief that it is important to motivate students with science and encourage them to share their ideas and new perspectives with their peers, friends and parents. It also contributes to building confidence and social development of students. When interviewed, the Headmistress Mrs. Shagun Irfan, mentioned that the success of the exhibition was due to the support of the enthusiastic science teachers and the Event Coordinator Dr. Mrs. Sadia Dar.
