Health concerns

The health sector of Balochistan is in a miserable condition. Sixteen percent of children of the province, according to the Emergency Operation Centre (ECO), are vaccinated. This means that the remaining 84 percent of children are at risk of contracting any minor or fatal diseases. The majority of the people of the province living in rural areas are suffering from malnutrition and other fatal diseases. This has become a prime cause of a lot of premature deaths among children. At times, even minor diseases result in death of a child because the poverty-stricken parents cannot afford a proper treatment of their child.

Although time after time the government has established medical institutions in the province, the unavailability of the staff is concerning. This has halted the day-to-day operations of these institutions. The concerned authorities are requested to keep a check-and-balance on the already opened medical institutions. Also, the authorities should open more medical units so that a larger number of people can benefit. Punctuality of doctors should be ensured so that the public doesn’t have to deal with the unavailability of doctors. The authorities are requested to provide even better health facilities to the people of Balochistan and protect their lives.
