Balochistan secretary visits Lok Virsa
Islamabad: Balochistan’s Cultural Secretary Ghulam Ali Baloch called for early approval of the proposed National Cultural Policy so that it could be replicated in provinces to address issues related to culture.
The secretary along with director, culture, Abdullah Baloch, said this during a meeting with Dr Fauzia Saeed, Executive Director of the National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) at her office on Friday.
They visited various departments, the Heritage Museum, and appreciated the efforts of the institute for the preservation and promotion of the cultural diversity of the country.
The executive director briefed the two officials about various programmes and initiatives taken by the premier cultural organisation of the country for the promotion of tangible and non-tangible cultural and folk heritage of the country.
They discussed matters of mutual interest for the promotion of cultural diversity and harmony in the country.
The ED said that Lok Virsa is making all possible efforts to highlight and promote Balochistan’s rich culture, history and lifestyle. “We want to present the real indigenous culture and heritage of Balochistan to other communities and the world.”
She said that a mega cultural event is being organised in Islamabad in next three months to highlight and promote the culture and life of the provinces. She also informed the secretary that a prokoposal was made to the chief secretary of Balochistan to include culture in curriculum so that young generation could be informed and educated about the importance of culture diversity.
The secretary while appreciating the initiatives of Lok Virsa stressed the need for expanding its activities to provinces and organising such programmes at provincial level. In response to this Dr Fouzia saeed said that they are working on future plan and will contact with provincial cultural departments.
