Senior Minister Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Nisar Ahmed Khuro, while welcoming erstwhile Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members to the party on Sunday, said more and more people were joining the PPP because they had lost hope in their leaders.

The PPP’s Sindh president while addressing a press conference at the Bilawal House said the centre’s policies had resulted in international isolation of the country.

Among the dozen PTI members who joined the PPP was Naeem Shaikh, the party’s candidate from NA-254, Korangi, in the 2013 general elections.

Referring to PPP chairman’s meeting with party workers in Ghotki, Khuhro said the turnout was evidence of the fact that the masses had complete confidence in Bilawal Bhutto’s leadership, and were proud of him.

Criticising Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the senior minister stated that he had went abroad after a deal with a promise to come back and deliver on his promises, but a decade later he returned and ditched the nation.

“Today’s leaders remain confined in their houses while their followers are beat up by police,” Khuhro said in an apparent reference to PTI chief Imran Khan. “The PPP leaders always stood with their workers through thick and thin,” he added.

The PPP’s leadership had rendered immense sacrifices for the party’s workers, and for democracy, he said. It was always the PPP that the people joined every time they lost hope in their leaders, Khuhro added.
