Drama festival kicks off at NUML

A three-day film and drama festival kicked off here at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) on Tuesday arranged by Faculty of English under NUML Dramatics Club, says a press release.

Regional campuses of NUML and universities of twin cities are participating in the festival. NUML Rector Major General Zia Ud Din Najam (r) was the chief guest on the inaugural session.

Director General NUML Brigadier Riaz Ahmed Gondal, all deans including Dean English Dr. Safeer Awan, registrar, directors, heads of departments, faculty and a large number of students from NUML and other universities were also present on the occasion.

NUML rector, in his address said that education is beyond four walls of class room and such kinds of activities are essential for personality grooming of the students. He said that getting degree is not important but getting knowledge is vital not only for the individual but for the society as well. He commended the performances of students and also applauded the role of Dr. Safeer Awan, Dean English for activating the Dramatics Society of NUML.

Earlier, Dr. Safeer Awan Dean Faculty of English in his welcome address said that new generation is living in a virtual world; they are unaware of the norms of Pakistani society as they spend time on social media, which is virtual world and totally ignorant about the real world. He said that performing arts play significant role in personality building. He welcomed chief guest, distinguished guests and students and stressed that such festival will be held not only regular basis but on extensive spectrum as well.

On first day performances of NUML main campus, NUML Lahore campus, Fatima Jinnah Women University, Federal Urdu University, Hamdrad University, National University of Medical Sciences and Preston University performances were performed.
