Angela Bassett reveals she 'always enjoys' listening to one line from fans
Angela Bassett reflects on love her fans shower on her wherever she goes
Angela Bassett’s career is full of successful projects but one quote of hers holds a special place in her fans’ hearts.
On Tuesday, May 12, at the 2026 Disney Upfront in New York City, the iconic American actress, famous for her work in both television and films, spoke with PEOPLE magazine about the love her fans have been showing her whenever they see her and the special lines they quote back to her.
“You may hear, ‘Go to bed, Joseph! Go to bed!’” Bassett told the outlet, alluding to her character, Katherine Jackson, who used to utter these lines to her husband, Joseph Jackson, especially when she found herself indulged in a heated debate late at night in the 1992 TV miniseries, The Jacksons: An American Dream.
“Yeah, so you hear different little lines, but I always enjoy that. I always enjoy that,” she admitted.
For those unaware, The Jacksons: An American Dream is a fan-favourite five-hour miniseries, which was originally broadcast from November 15 through November 18, 1992, and also aired in two halves on ABC.
It is pertinent to mention that Angela Bassett played the role of the Jackson siblings’ mother, including Michael Jackson, Jackie Jackson, and Jermaine Jackson, while Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs starred as her husband, Joseph.
