Defeated politicians out to stop progress: CM
Says those desirous of taking decisions on roads should learn to respect democratic institutions
LAHORE
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that those desirous of taking decisions on roads should mend their ways and learn to respect democratic institutions because with their selfish interest and the politics of protest and chaos they want to push the country towards destruction.
He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, efforts of the government for economic stability had proved fruitful and international institutions were also acknowledging improvement of national economy. He said that better economic situation in the country was a clear proof of three and a half years’ performance of the PML-N government but some defeated politicians were out to stop this journey of progress. These are those defeated faces as caused loss of billions of rupees to national economy through sit-ins in 2014, he added.
Talking to Member National Assembly Ghulam Bibi Bharwana, the chief minister said those staging sit-in on the road to development could never be the well-wishers of the people and these elements were once again indulging in sit-in politics for weakening national economy. He said some opportunist politicians were giving priority to their personal interests over national interest. He said these elements should know that success in politics was achieved through public service and not protest and negative politics.
Shahbaz Sharif said that conscious people of Pakistan had fed up with negative politics of the defeated politicians. He said that on the one hand, there was politics of service, honesty and transparency while on the other hand is negative politics of allegations, lies and anarchy. The decisions are taken in the parliament in democracy, he added. People have recognised such defeated politicians and will not allow them to succeed in their interests, he added.
The chief minister said the PML-N government would complete the mission of making the country developed, peaceful and prosperous.
povert: Shahbaz Sharif has said that service to the ailing humanity and eradication of poverty are high values of humanity. It is the golden principle of Islam that every human being should lead a respectable life, he added.
He said that eradication of poverty was a challenge and there was a need to take coordinated steps at every level for coping with it.
In his message on International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, the chief minister said that poverty was an economic dilemma and every section of society had to play an active role for overcoming this problem. He said the aim of observing this day was to create awareness and expedite efforts at the international level for the elimination of poverty. He said there was a need to highlight awareness among the families leading miserable lives about their rights as the day provided an opportunity to take measures for mitigating the miseries of the poor.
Today we have to reiterate the determination of expediting our efforts for eliminating poverty from the country, he said, adding that poverty was the major cause of lawlessness in society. Eradication of poverty is necessary for controlling extremism and terrorism, he added. He said that we have to move forward with effective steps and strategy for reducing the problems pertaining to poverty.
He said the menace of poverty could be reduced to a large extent by removing economic discrepancy in society; therefore, it was the duty of every person of society to take part in this noble cause. He said that equal distribution of resources was necessary for eradicating poverty.
