US Consul General in Karachi Grace Shelton, with a delegation including the executive director for the US Trade Department for Asia International Trade Administration, James Golsen, called on Sindh Board of Investment (SBI) Chairperson Naheed Memon at her office here on Thursday.

They discussed the matters of mutual interests and increasing trade volume between Pakistan and United States.

Memon said that United States was the third largest investor in Pakistan after China and Switzerland and the export from Pakistan to US was double as compared to the imports from US to Pakistan.

“We want to further enhance the business and trade between the two countries and also intend to encourage imports from US so as to introduce new technologies to Pakistan,” she said.

Memon said the graph of the last ten years showed that the US investments in Pakistan had been decreasing. She suggested the delegation to convene the Pakistan America Business Opportunities Conference in Karachi to highlight the business and trade opportunities in US and Pakistan before the investors of the two sides.

Agreeing with the suggestion, Grace Shelton assured of his every possible cooperation in this regard.
