Facilitators of terrorists face crackdown
LAHORE
The commanders of Lahore Police on Sunday held a meeting to map out a crackdown on the facilitators of militants, drug dealers, weapon-dealers, land mafia and gambling dens.
The meeting, held at Qila Gujjar Singh Police Lines, was chaired by CCPO Amin Wains. DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf, DIG Investigations Chaudhry Sultan, SSP Operations Muntazir Mehdi, SSP Investigations Hassan Sukhera and all the divisional SPs were present.
The CCPO asked all the divisional SPs to prepare themselves a list of the accused of the criminal activities and monitor the action against them. He ordered the SPs to make sure the raid was conducted at the right target where the criminal was hiding, and public or innocent people were not disturbed or harassed.
The CCPO ordered the Investigations Wing to expedite the investigation process in such cases. He vowed to take action against big guns involved in drug dealing. During the crackdown, black sheep involved in patronising or facilitating these crimes in the force would also be searched out. Examples would be made out of these sheep, the CCPO warned.
Special teams in Organised Crime Cell, divisional SPs, DIGs office and CCPO office have been formed t0 monitor the crackdown and maintain transparency in the process.
The CCPO said that they had established a special force to collect intelligence regarding militants'’ facilitators and terrorists.
The CCPO ordered the special teams to conduct raids whenever the intelligence regarding organised crime was received in any police station area.
Meanwhile, Operations Wing of Lahore Police held a meeting at SP Operations, Model Town, Office to expedite use of information technology and newly established Ops Rooms in countering crimes. The meeting was chaired by DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf, SSP Operations, SP Headquarters, SP Security and all the divisional SPs participated in the meeting.
The DIG Operations Haider Ashraf asked all the divisional SPs to conduct meetings with the members of Peace Committees before Muharram-ul-Haram and prepare strategy for security measures. He ordered all the divisional SPs to launch crackdown on drug dealers, gambling dens and brothels. He said that when a person was caught involved in these crimes, his complete network must be busted.
Haider Ashraf said that Ops Rooms in police stations after divisional SPs offices were set to facilitate public and improve efficiency of police officials. He said that these facilities must be fully utilised to enhance performance. All the officials ensure their attendance through bio-metric machines. The force must immediately respond to calls at 15 or messages at 8787 or 8330. All the divisional SPs make sure that all the hotels in their area were registered with Hotel Eye software and update record of their every customer on the software.
He directed that the complaints be received only by the officials of the front desks and not by any ASI, SI, SHO or Moharar. Front desks would update the complaints on computerised system and mark them to officers. He ordered no interference by any police official in working of front desks. Tenants should also be registered at the front desks, the DIG said.
