CM asks Centre to release KP’s share of Rs20 billion
PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has asked the federal government to release the province its share of Rs20 billion for access to education, health and other public welfare schemes.
This he said while presiding over a meeting at Chief Minister’s House, said a handout. Chief secretary, secretary finance, principal secretary to the chief minister and other concerned officers were also present on the occasion.
Pervez Khattak said the planning commission in the fiscal year 2016-17 had pledged that the federal government would arrange matching grant to the provincial governments if they invested in the universal access to education, gender empowerment, mothers and children’s healthcare, good governance and other public welfare schemes as envisaged in the Millennium Development Goals that was subsequently renamed as sustainable development goals.
The philosophy behind these goals was to ensure efficient services in these sectors. He said the provincial government wanted to use the resources on the underprivileged class.
He directed the Finance Department to raise the issue of releases with the federal government including the releases of net hydel and other shares of the province in the developmental strategy. He said he would not allow the provincial rights to be usurped.
