Four die in accident

SUKKUR: Four people were killed in two separate road accidents in Shikarpur. Reports said that three people died on the spot as a result of a collision between a coach and a wagon on the Indus Highway. One of the deceased was identified as Hamid Ali Khuhro. The injured were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Jacobabad. Doctors said that the condition of the injured people was stable. In a separate accident, a motorcyclist, Shoukat Ali Kachi, was killed in Radhan in a collision with a coach.
Trader shot dead

SUKKUR: A trader was shot dead by some unidentified people. Reports said that a poultry trader, Nazir Ahmed Phulpoto, was shot dead in Tallo Bhando village when he resisted being kidnapped. Some protestors blocked the National Highway and demanded the arrest of the killers.
Man kills wife

SUKKUR: A man tortured his wife to death in Obaro. Reports said that Murtaza Shar allegedly tortured his wife to death on suspicion of her being unfaithful to him. Police shifted the body to a hospital and arrested the accused.
Cash, valuables looted in Okara incidents

OKARA: Two dacoity incidents were reported here on Sunday.Muhammad Afzal of 21/GD village and his sister-in-law Nusrat Bano were returning home on a bike when four dacoits, including Waheed of 20/SP village, Pakpattan and Munir Ahmad of Pakpattan, intercepted them on Branch Road near Pathananwala tube-well and allegedly snatched Rs 185,000, two cell phones and other valuables from them. In another incident, Sheikh Yousaf and his son were on their way when two bandits stopped them near 5/4L village and looted Rs 130,000 and mobile phones from them and fled. Sadar police have registered separate cases.
Bystander killed, another injured

OKARA: A bystander was shot dead while another sustained injuries in firing by a man on his rival at Phularwan Wazeerkay village. On Sunday, Javed was sitting at the shop of Dost Muhammad when his rival Mumtaz alias Taji arrived there and opened fire at him. He remained safe. However, two customers, Muhammad Younus and Imran Shah came under fire. As a result, Younus died on the spot while Imran received serious injuries.
Violation of ban on sale of plots

TOBA TEK SINGH: DCO Amir Ijaz Akbar on Sunday took notice of violation of ban on the sale of plots in 58 illegal housing colonies in the district.The DCO directed AC Muhammad Shafiq to check revenue record of his tehsil and submitted a report to him in this regard. The DCO had received information during a meeting that although TMO Rana Ghulam Dastgir had wrote a letter to the revenue officers that 58 illegal colonies had been established by their owners so no sale or transfer of plots should be made in the said colonies.
Five robbers killed in Multan
MULTAN: At least five alleged robbers were killed during a police encounter in Multan.The police said that the detained robbers were being shifted when 12 armed robbers started firing at the police party at Rangeel Pur area on Sunday morning.The police retaliated and killed five alleged robbers. According to sources the robbers were allegedly involved in different crimes in Southern Punjab including bank robberies.
Foolproof security planned for Chinese engineers

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Foolproof security arrangements have been made for the security of Chinese engineers and other technical staff engaged in the construction of National Highway connecting Dera Ghazi Khan with Quetta.A senior official of local police department said that provincial government had issued strict directions as the site was located in the tribal area of DG Khan bordered with Balochistan province. He said that heavy contingent of Elite Force and Border Military Police had been deployed for their movement and stay besides the site where the work was in progress. It is pertinent to mention here that the National Highway Authority has hired a private security company guards to ensure the security of the foreigners.
Two dead, five hurt in Hafizabad accident

HAFIZABAD: Two people were killed while five others sustained injuries in an accident on the Motorway near Pindi Bhattian Interchange on Sunday. A truck was carrying cattle to Lahore from Kotmomin when it overturned. As a result, Asghar Ali and Muhammad Rafiq of Kotmomin died on the spot while Zafar Ali, Mohsin, Ahmad, Shan and Shafqat sustained injuries and rushed to a hospital.
People catch dacoit in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA: People caught a dacoit and handed over to Aroop police after beating him when he was trying to flee after committing a dacoity. Abdul Rehman was on his way when two dacoits intercepted him and snatched cash and a cell phone. In the meantime, people gathered and caught one dacoit, later identified as Amir, and gave him a good beating. Later, the dacoit was handed over to the police for investigation.
Mystery shrouds death of minor girl

GUJRANWALA: A two-year-old girl died under mysterious circumstances at Wanyawala. On Sunday, Fahira, wife of Shahbaz of Jalil Town, took her ailing daughter Tahreem Fatima to a shrine for spiritual treatment. Meanwhile, Tahreem went missing and her mother asked the people to find her daughter. After two-hours search, the girl was found dead near the shrine’s boundary. After receiving information, Aroop police reached the spot and started investigation. It is mentionable here that there is no sign of torture or injury on the girl’s body.
Two commit suicide in Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR: Two people committed suicide while three attempted in separate incidents here on Sunday. Asia of Chak 6, Gajjyani, ended her life by taking poisonous pills. Naheed Bibi of Matta Jhaddo, Chishtian, committed suicide over a domestic dispute. Sughran Bibi of Marri Shaoq Elahi, Chishtian, Sumera of Tiba Tanki, Chishtian, and Jehangir of Manghair Sharif attempted suicide by taking poison over domestic disputes. They were rushed to the THQ Hospital Chishtian and BVH Bahawalpur.
Two Pakistanis killed in Afghan blast

PESHAWAR: Two Pakistani nationals were killed in a bomb blast in Laalpura district in Nangarhar province of Afghanistan, officials said on Sunday.An improvised explosive device went off on the armed opponents in a mosque in Sada area in Laalpura district, leaving two Pakistani nationals dead, Nangarhar police spokesman Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal told Afghan Islamic Press (AIP).He said two Afghan nationals were injured in the incident adding that they were involved in anti-state activities. The armed opponents have not said anything in this regard so far.
No attack on KP Assembly, tweets Maryam
ISLAMABAD: There was no attack on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Mariam Nawaz said in a tweet on Sunday. Apparently some youngsters tried to display flags atop the gate. Even that could not be condoned, she said and added that Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML N) workers and supporters must at all times adhere to Nawaz Sharif's policy of civility and respect, she added.
Child among five killed in Wah road accident
WAH CANTT: Five persons, including a child, were killed and three others injured in the head on collision between a passenger coach and a dumper on Hazara Road in the limits of Wah Cantonment Police on Saturday. According to police sources, the Haripur bound coach coming from Rawalpindi collided head on with the speeding dumper coming from the opposite direction near Mohra Chowk. Five passengers, including a six month old baby, died on the spot while three others were injured critically.
Two killed in Hangu clash

HANGU: Two persons were killed as rivals Saturday exchanged fire in Thall tehsil here, police sources said. They said that members of two rival groups traded fire over an old enmity in Doaba area. As a result, the sources said, that two persons were killed on the spot in the incident. The police lodged a case and started investigation.
Two children injured in NWA roadside blast

MIRANSHAH: Two children sustained injuries in a roadside blast in North Waziristan Agency, official sources said on Saturday.They said that the children were fetching water from a spring in Toolkhel area in Miranshah, the administrative headquarters of North Waziristan, when the blast occurred. The injured children were stated to be eight and 10 years old. They said the injured children were shifted to Miranshah Camp Hospital. The sources said that the families of the wounded children had recently returned to their native area.
Two women abducted

PAKPATTAN: Two women were abducted in different incidents here. In the first incident, Tanveer and six others entered the house of Azhar Fareed at Sofiabad and allegedly abducted his married daughter. In the second incident, four people, including Hussain, allegedly abducted the married daughter of Muhammad Jamal at Chak 5/EB. Police have registered separate cases.
Woman dies in cylinder blast

PAKPATTAN: A woman was killed and her daughter injured in a cylinder blast at Ward No-3, Arifwala. Shehnaz Bibi was cooking food in her house when a LPG cylinder suddenly exploded. As a result, Shehnaz died on the spot while her daughter was injured.
PHA employees stage demo as
two gardeners fall unconscious

GUJRANWALA: The PHA officials on Saturday staged a demonstration when two gardeners fell unconscious due to alleged overworking here. Reportedly, two gardeners of the PHA fell unconscious while doing work allegedly after duty hours and rushed to the DHQ Hospital.
After hearing the news, the PHA employees reached at the hospital and chanted slogans against their officers for getting labour from the staff allegedly after duty hours. Later, the protesters went to the DCO Office and submitted an application about the matter. DCO Muhammad Amir assured them to take necessary action. At this, the protesters dispersed.
Section 144
Collection of hides without permission banned in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA: DCO Muhammad Amir on Saturday imposed Section 144 under which setting up of camps and collection of hides without prior permission of the administration will be banned in the district. Under the ban, burning of sacrificial animals’ heads and torts in the city area would also be banned. The DCO told that inspection teams would pay surprise visits to various parts of the city during the Eid days and strict action would be taken against violators.
Heavy rain, hailstorm wreak havoc in Swat

MINGORA: Heavy rain coupled with hailstorm on Saturday wreaked havoc in Madyan area in Swat, damaging standing crops, vegetables and orchards. The heavy rainfall also triggered floods in the seasonal streams in Madyan causing danger to mud houses in the area. The heavy downpour and hailstorm also caused power disruption and affected the communication system in the valley. The rainfall and hailstorm was so heavy that it caused panic among the residents and they recited versus from the Holy Quran.
50 buildings declared dilapidated in Toba district

TOBA TEK SINGH: The Punjab Local Government and Community Development departments have declared 50 old buildings of the district as dilapidated and directed their owners not to use them for residence or business. LG&CD Assistant Director Zameerul Hassan told reporters here on Saturday that 10 buildings were situated in Toba tehsil, 29 in Gojra tehsil and 11 in Kamalia tehsil. He said that TMAs were asked to issue warning notices to the owners of the said buildings to vacate them. He said that the owners of the buildings would only be allowed to restart their use after their reconstruction or repair, adding that repairing certificates would be issued to the owners after inspection of the repaired buildings.
Girl, widow raped in Pakpattan incidents

PAKPATTAN: A girl and a widow were raped in different incidents here. In the first incident, 18-year-old daughter of Shakiran Bibi was going to buy firewood when four people, including Saleem, allegedly abducted her on August 19. The accused took the girl to a dera at Chak 10/EB where Saleem allegedly raped her for 22 days .On September 9, the accused threw the victim near her house. Police have registered a case. In the second incident, Hameeda Bibi came to the house of the widow of Noor Ahmad Sheikh at Chak 80/EB and took her for labour to a house where Allah Rakha allegedly raped her. Police have registered a case.
Security tightened in Multan

MULTAN: City police Saturday established pickets at 30 points in the district to avoid any untoward incident. According to City police spokeswoman inspector Shabina Karim, divisional SPs, relevant SDPOs and SHOs would monitor security situation in the district. She said 17 police mobiles, 34 motorbike squads and four Elite Police vehicles would frequently patrol the city following directions of acting CPO Dr Rizwan.
Two booked for killing brother over property dispute

KASUR: A-Division police on Saturday booked two men for allegedly killing their brother over a property dispute near Railway Station Park on Circular Road on Friday night. Accused Rafaqat and Sharafat had a property dispute with their brother Sadaqat. The accused also allegedly murdered their father on the same issue some time ago. Later, the accused brothers allegedly shot Sadaqat dead and fled.
Fake US dollars seized

MINGORA: The police seized fake 3,600 US dollars and arrested the accused in Kanju area of Swat district on Saturday, official sources said. During snap checking, the police arrested Tariq, resident of Charsadda, and after seizing 3,600 fake US dollars from him. The police registered the case and started investigation.
Lightning kills three in Swat village

MINGORA: At least three persons, including a minor boy, were killed and another wounded when lightning hit a house in Madyan area of Swat district on Saturday. According to the police, the lightning hit a house in Palam village in Madyan, killing two-year-old Sheraz, Bala Nishta, 15, and Niaz, 13. Another person identified as Usman also sustained injuries and was shifted to Madyan hospital for medical care.
Van plunges into canal in Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR: A Mansehra-bound van plunged into Abbasia canal near Uch Sharif on KLP National Highway on Saturday. Reportedly, the incident took place when the driver of the van that was coming from Karachi tried to save a motorcyclist. Miraculously, all passengers remained safe however, some suffered minor bruises.
Man injured by cop over petty issue

GUJRANWALA: A man was shot at and injured by a police constable over a petty issue at Tatle Wali on Saturday. Constable Umar was on his way on a motorcycle when his bike collided with another motorcycle driving by Arif. In a fit of anger, the cop took out his pistol and allegedly shot at and injured Arif. The injured was rushed to a hospital. Tatle Wali police have registered a case.
Man kills daughter for ‘honour’

KASUR: A man allegedly killed his daughter for ‘honour’ at Allabad Qasba on Saturday. Accused Rao Ajmal had doubted on the character of his daughter Aneela Ajmal, 18. On the day of the incident, the accused allegedly shot her dead. Allabad police have sent the body for post-mortem and started investigation.
