Sufficient supply of vegetables keeps prices stable
LAHORE
The district government has managed the supply of some essential vegetables used in cooking meat, but fails to stop vendors from overcharging of these items.
In makeshift markets ample supply of tomatoes, garlic, ginger, green chili was witnessed which helped reduce the pressure form price. Tomatoes price increased by Rs 8 per kg on week basis, but sufficient supply of quality tomatoes offset the impact of this increase.
Similarly, the price of ginger was high during the last couple of weeks which came down with the increase of its supply. The price of ginger came down by Rs 15 per kg.
In makeshift markets vendors kept overcharging the consumers in the presence of town and price control committee officials. The price of potatoes soft skin was reduced by Rs 4 per kg, fixed at Rs 34 to 38 per kg, sugar free increased by Re one per kg, fixed at Rs 25 to 29 per kg, and store at Rs 17 to 19 per kg, while stored sold at Rs 38 per kg.
Onion price was increased by Rs 3 per kg, fixed at Rs 22 to 25 per kg. The price of tomato was gained by Rs 9 per kg, fixed at Rs 48 to 51 per kg, good quality was sold at Rs 50 per kg in makeshift markets, while outside sold at Rs 80 per kg. Garlic local was increased by Rs 10 per kg, fixed at Rs 230 to 240 per kg, garlic China by Rs 20 per kg, fixed at Rs 270 to 285 per kg, both sold at Rs 300 per kg. Ginger Chinese was reduced by Rs 15 per kg, fixed at Rs 110 to 125 per kg, sold at Rs 120 to 140 per kg. The price of brinjal was stable at Rs 20 to 22 per kg, sold at Rs 25 per kg.
Cucumber local was fixed at Rs 40 to 45 per kg, Farm white at Rs 30 to 35 per kg, farm black at Rs 70 per kg, while local and farm white were sold at Rs 70 per kg while Farm black was not sold there. Bitter gourd reduced by Rs 15 per kg, fixed at Rs 60 to 65 per kg, sold at Rs 70 per kg.
Spinach price was gained stable at Rs 20 to 25 per kg, sold at Rs 30 per kg. Lemon local A-grade was 76 per kg, fixed Rs 175 to 186 per kg, Lemon local B-grade was fixed at Rs 115 to 120 per kg, lemon Chinese was fixed at Rs 110 to 118 per kg, but not sold in makeshift markets. Zucchini local was gained by Rs 5 per kg, fixed at Rs 60 to 65 per kg, not sold there. The price of pumpkin was unchanged at Rs 45 to 50 per kg. Luffa price was also stable at Rs 50 per kg, lower quality sold at Rs 50 per kg. Ladyfinger was reduced by Rs 5 per kg, fixed at Rs 60 to 65 per kg. Arum was reduced by Rs 5 per kg, fixed at Rs 40 to 45 per kg, not sold there. Green chilli local price was gained by Rs 39 per kg, fixed at Rs 90 to 94 per kg, Farm was fixed at Rs 55 to 60 per kg, both sold at Rs 100 per kg.
Capsicum was stable at Rs 75 to 80 per kg, sold at Rs 100 per kg. Coriander was gained by Rs 5 per kg, fixed at Rs 140 per kg, sold at Rs 600 per kg. The price of different variety of apples was fixed at Rs 35 to 100 per kg, sold at Rs 60 to 100 per kg. The price of banana A-quality was stable at Rs 50 to 55 per dozen, B-quality at Rs 35 to 40 per dozen, sold at Rs 55 per dozen while A-quality was not sold there. Guava price was fixed at Rs 45 per kg, not sold there. Peach A-category was fixed at Rs 140 to 155 per kg, B-category at Rs 80 to 85 per kg, mix was sold at Rs 150 per kg.
The price of different variety of mangoes was fixed at Rs 70 to 110 per kg while sold at Rs 100 to 120 per kg.
