SUKKUR: The bullet-riddled body of a fourth-year MBBS student was recovered from the hostel of Liaquat Medical University (LUMS) in Jamshoro on Sunday.

According to police, the deceased was identified as Abdullah Soomro, a resident of Jacobabad and a fourth-year student at Bilawal Medical College, affiliated with Liaquat Medical University. His body was found a room of Al-Sina Boys Hostel.

Upon receiving information, police and university officials reached the scene and shifted the body to LUMS Hospital for further legal and medical formalities.

According to Jamshoro police, Abdullah’s friends revealed during questioning that he had been mentally disturbed for some time. They said he had come to their room to stay for a while, and when they went out, he locked the door, turned on the loudspeaker, and allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with a pistol.

Police said a pistol was recovered from the room and has been sent for forensic examination.
