Pakistan will stand by Kashmiris until freedom, says JI chief

ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said Sunday Pakistan and its people will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with Kashmiri people until the dawn of freedom.

He expressed these views while addressing participants of annual meeting of members of JI AJK and GB General Council. Other speakers included JI AJK Ameer Dr Muhammad Mushtaq Khan, All Parties Hurriyat Conference Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Mian Maqsood Ahmed and Raja Jahangir Khan.

Hafiz Naeem said Kashmir freedom movement is a continuation of Pakistan Movement. India carried out an illegal military occupation of Jammu and Kashmir on October 27, 1947, an act neither accepted by Kashmiri people nor international community, he said.

Kashmiri people must be granted their promised right to self-determination in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions, he emphasized.

Criticising global powers, JI leader said countries, including United States, which supported Israel in its genocide of Palestinians, were equally complicit in this crime. Hamas acted according to its circumstances and that Israel had violated peace agreements 35 times, he added.

Citing US President Donald Trump, he noted despite two years of aggression and destruction in Gaza, Israel failed to free even a single hostage, a clear sign of its failure.

He urged the people of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan to place their trust in Jamaat-e-Islami, asserting only JI could effectively address their problems. The party, he said, remains actively engaged in both struggle for Kashmir’s freedom and resolution of public grievances.

Blaming the country’s woes on a corrupt leadership and an outdated colonial system, Hafiz Naeem lamented even after more than 75 years of independence, Pakistan continues to suffer under a system designed for the luxuries of rulers. Jamaat-e-Islami, he stressed, is striving to replace this obsolete order with a just system based on principles of Allah.

“When such a system prevails, the people’s problems will be solved, their voices will be heard, Pakistan’s dignity will rise, and it will stand firmly with the oppressed across the world”, he hoped.

He said the corrupt elite had disheartened Pakistan’s courageous youth for personal gain, but Jamaat is working to restore their hope and potential.

“This country does not belong to Zardari, Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan, or Asim Munir. It belongs to all of us. Pakistan is the centre of hope for Kashmiris”, he declared.

He said efforts to alienate the youth from Pakistan would be countered through initiatives like “Bano Qabil” and other educational programmes.

Reiterating JI is a democratic movement seeking real change through public mobilisation, Hafiz Naeem urged party members to remain among people, represent their issues and work towards practical solutions.

He concluded the public has lost faith in the leadership imposed on them for the past 78 years, but if Jamaat reaches out to people, they will choose it as their political alternative.
