Pakistan Ulema Conference welcomes Gaza ceasefire
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Ulema Conference Tuesday welcomed Gaza ceasefire and lauded the role of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in achieving peace in the Middle East.
Visiting MWL Secretary General Dr. Mohammad Bin Abdukarim AlIssa, chaired the conference held under the aegis of Mecca-based Muslim World League (MWL) here.
The conference also welcomed the defence agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and termed it historic.
Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousuf, JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman, Saudi Ambassador in Islamabad Nawaf Bin Saeed Al-Maliki, Allama Tahir Ashrafi, Allama Raghib Naeemi and others attended the conference.
It noted that the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement was signed in presence of Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and that it reflected the depth of Pak-Saudi relations.
The declaration, passed at end of the conference, called for promoting mutual cooperation dialogue for creating religious harmony and uniformity and mutual respect and tolerance among the Muslim countries and their people.
The declaration also called upon the Muslim Ummah to act for betterment of people burying all differences, which were hindering the Muslim unity.
“As we believe in the Holy Quran, Last Prophet (SAW), one Qibla and one religion, there is no room for differences. Instead of fanning differences, there is a need for constructive dialogue and mutual cooperation to address all the issues,” the declaration said.
It also stressed that it was duty of the religious leadership to promote the spirit of toleration, moderation, and balance in thoughts to defeat extremism and hatred.
Addressing the conference, the MWL secretary general said Pakistan always played a key role in unity among Muslim countries and to safeguard Harmain Al-Sharifain and uphold their sanctity.
He said the defence agreement reached between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia would also serve the purpose of unity and stability of Muslim Ummah.
He pointed that the MWL had been playing an important role for inter-faith tolerance and Muslim Ummah’s unity and peace.
Sardar Muhammad Yousuf said the conference would be a milestone for unity among Muslim Ummah saying the role of Saudi Arabia had been unprecedented for betterment of Muslim countries.
Fazlur Rehman noted that the Middle East crisis through peace in Gaza was successfully addressed, forging unity among the Muslim countries.
