RAWALPINDI/QUETTA: Security forces Wednesday killed three Indian-sponsored terrorists while a young officer was also martyred during an intelligence based operation (IBO) in the Awaran district, says the ISPR in a statement.
The IBO was conducted on the reported presence of terrorists belonging to Indian proxy Fitna al Hindustan. The troops effectively engaged the location, killing three Indian-sponsored terrorists.
During the intense exchange of fire, Major Syed Rabnawaz Tariq, 34, a resident of Muzaffarabad District, was martyred.
A sanitization operation is being conducted to eliminate any other terrorist found in the area.
Meanwhile, in a terrorist attack bearing the signature of Indian proxy Fitna al Hindustan, three passengers were killed and seven others injured when a Quetta-bound passenger coach traveling from Karachi came under a deadly armed attack in the Narmuk area of Kalat on Wednesday.
Security forces, district administration, and rescue teams responded immediately to the incident.
The injured were rushed to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, Kalat, where a state of emergency was declared.
Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace and apprehend the attackers, who remain at large.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti condemned the attack in the harshest terms, calling it a cowardly and despicable act of terrorism. In a statement on social media platform X, he said, “Targeting innocent and defenseless civilians is an unforgivable crime. No words are enough to condemn such brutality.”
The chief minister added that the loss of precious lives was an irreparable national tragedy that had plunged the nation into mourning. He pointed to the involvement of India-backed terrorist organizations, stating, “These groups once targeted people based on identity, but are now indiscriminately attacking civilians, making it clear that this war is against every Pakistani.”
He labeled such acts as a declaration of war against Pakistan’s unity, sovereignty, and peace, and vowed that the government will defeat this threat at all costs. He expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of those killed and directed that the injured be given the best possible medical care.
The government has reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace and holding the perpetrators accountable. Security operations in the region remain ongoing. In another incident, three pedestrians, including a woman, were injured on Wednesday when an IED planted on a motorcycle went off in the Hazarganji area near Marri Camp on the main highway.
According to police, unknown suspects planted the explosive device on the motorcycle, which exploded with a loud bang, injuring a woman, identified as Hoori Bibi, and two male passersby, Bagh Ali and Abdul Qadir, both residents of Mari Camp.
Police, bomb disposal squad, and security forces reached the scene shortly, cordoned off the area and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital.
Police sources confirmed that the device was detonated using a timer mechanism. Further investigation is underway.
