QUETTA: The Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) spokesperson reported on Monday that the electricity supply from neighboring Iran through the 132kV Pishin-Mand and 132kV Polan-Jiwani transmission lines was suspended at approximately 2:30pm.

The disruption in electricity from the two key transmission lines impacted the supply to all grid stations in the Makran division. According to the spokesperson, power outages affected the 132kV grid stations in Mand, Tump, Turbat, Hoshab, Panjgur, Jiwani, Gwadar Door, Gwadar Deep Sea Port, New Gwadar International Airport, Pasni, and Ormara.

QESCO promptly addressed the issue and, by around 5pm, successfully restored electricity to Makran division by connecting it to the national grid. Power was gradually resumed to all feeders, and supply has since normalized across the affected areas. The spokesperson added that QESCO’s management was in continuous communication with Iranian authorities to resolve the issue and restore the supply from Iran at the earliest. QESCO has apologized to the consumers of Makran for the inconvenience caused by the power outage and requested their cooperation and patience during this period.
