MINGORA: At least three persons were killed and four others were rescued in injured condition when a boat capsized in river in the scenic tourist valley of Kalam on Saturday.
Sources said the tragic accident occurred in the Shahi Bagh area after the engine of the boat carrying tourists failed.According to rescue officials, seven tourists were onboard when the incident took place.
As a result, all seven fell into the fast-flowing water. Swift action by Rescue 1122 teams and local volunteers led to the recovery of three bodies, while three injured individuals were rescued and rushed to Saidu Sharif Teaching Hospital for emergency treatment.
Among the injured was a one-year-old child named Sadees, whose condition is said to be critical.Residents rushed to the scene as news of the incident spread, and many joined hands with rescue workers in the ongoing search and recovery operation.
One tourist remains missing, and search efforts were actively continuing, with additional rescue teams dispatched to the site.District administration officials confirmed that an inquiry had been launched to investigate the cause of the accident, including the reported engine failure and any possible negligence in safety measures.
