WCLA to place electricity wires underground on Mall Road
LAHORE:The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) has embarked on a transformative initiative to enhance the aesthetic appeal and functionality of Mall Road by removing overhead electricity cables and burying them underground.
This project, spanning from State Bank to Hall Road signal, marks a significant milestone as the first-ever initiative of its kind outside the historic walled city area. Building upon the success of ongoing efforts in areas like Royal Trail and Bhatti Gate, where overhead cables have been systematically replaced with underground infrastructure, this new phase underscores Walled City of Lahore Authority's commitment to preserving Lahore's cultural heritage while modernising its urban landscape.
As per the vision of Dr Asif Tufail, Director General of Walled City of Lahore Authority, removing the overhead cables and placing them underground will not only elevate the visual charm of this iconic route but also bolster safety and the dependability of power supply in the area.
The project is expected to enhance the visual appeal of Mall Road, making it more conducive to tourism, commerce, and daily life for residents. Furthermore, by eliminating overhead cables, the initiative aims to reduce the risk of accidents and improve the overall resilience of Lahore's infrastructure. Walled City of Lahore Authority invited residents, businessmen and visitors to witness this transformation as Mall Road undergoes this progressive change.
