Killer of wife arrested

LAHORE:Saggian Chowki police arrested a man who killed his first wife on Monday. The police traced and arrested accused Nazir in 12 hours after the murder with the help of advanced technology. The suspect was married to Najma for 20 years and fathered two sons. He contracted a second marriage three years ago. He killed his first wife following intense domestic disputes. The accused with the complicity of his second wife tried to set the body to fire. DIG Operations Faisal Kamran constituted police teams led by SP City Bilal Ahmed and the killer and his second wife were tracked and arrested.

4,704 drug dealers held

The Lahore Police have arrested 4,704 alleged drug peddlers this year so far and registered 4,607 cases. The accused were held in the wake of a drug-free Lahore campaign under the supervision of Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana.

According to the Lahore Police spokesman, the police recovered 2,660 kg cannabis, 338 kg Ice (crystal meth), 215 kg opium, 207 kg heroin and more than 26,000 litres of liquor. Meanwhile, the CCPO has ordered an intensified crackdown on drug peddlers around educational institutions. The CCPO also directed operations targeting the online supply of drugs to youth."
