Pakistan committed to responsible diplomacy, says Wahab
Karachi Mayor and Sindh government spokesman Barrister Murtaza Wahab welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India, saying that Pakistan has always been a peace-loving nation committed to dialogue, regional stability and responsible diplomacy.
Wahab said that despite India’s aggression and attempts to impose war, Pakistan’s armed forces responded with resolve and strategic clarity, earning the respect of both the nation and the international community.
“Our forces have made the nation proud, and demonstrated that our desire for peace must never be mistaken for weakness. If any hostile force imposes conflict, Pakistan’s military and people know well how to respond decisively.”
He highlighted that the bravery of Pakistan’s three armed forces has been internationally acknowledged, and that the reckless ambitions of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s regime to destabilise the region have been thwarted by the discipline and courage of Pakistan’s armed forces.
He praised Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for effectively projecting the country’s peaceful stance on the global stage, and for welcoming the ceasefire. He said Bilawal courageously exposed India’s true face through international media, adding that the nation appreciates his diplomatic efforts.
Wahab also expressed concern over continued reports of ceasefire violations by India along the Line of Control, urging New Delhi to respect international law, and honour the agreement. He warned that India’s provocative actions pose a serious threat to regional peace, and must be brought to an end.
He acknowledged the constructive role of the international community, particularly the United States, in facilitating the ceasefire, and welcomed US President Donald Trump’s statement on Jammu & Kashmir.
He hoped that Kashmiris would soon be granted their right to self-determination in accordance with the United Nations Charter. The mayor reaffirmed that the people of Pakistan stand united with their brave soldiers, and would continue to do so with pride and unwavering determination.
