Massive overcharging on perishable items continues

LAHORE:Increasing trend in prices of fruits and vegetables was recorded. Massive overcharging for all seasonal vegetables, fruits and chicken continued. It seemed the district admin has given a free hand to the sellers to sell their commodities at their own price. The sellers displayed the rate list at their shops and carts but did not follow the rates as they know that no action would be taken against them on violation of the official rate lists.

This week, the rate of live chicken was gained by Rs25 per kg, fixed at Rs379-393 per kg, while the seller didn’t sale live chicken but the chicken meat was sold at Rs530-640 per kg and chicken boneless at Rs900-1000 per kg.

The price of potato soft skin A-grade was reduced by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs40-45 per kg, sold at Rs80-100 per kg, B-grade at Rs37-40 per kg and C-grade at Rs32-35 per kg, mixed sold at Rs50-70 per kg.

The price of onion A-grade was unchanged at Rs35-40 per kg, sold at Rs80-100 per kg, B-grade at Rs32-35 per kg, and C-grade at Rs27-30 per kg, mixed sold at Rs60-70 per kg.

The price of tomato A-grade unchanged at Rs35-40 per kg, sold at Rs100-120 per kg, B-grade fixed at Rs30-35 per kg, and C-grade at Rs26-30 per kg, mixed sold at Rs60-80 per kg. The price of garlic local new was further gained by Rs30 per kg, fixed at Rs182-190 per kg, sold at Rs200-300 per kg, Garlic China by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs334-350 per kg, sold at Rs500 per kg. Garlic Harani by Rs30 per kg, fixed at Rs248-260 per kg, sold at Rs400 per kg.

The price of both Ginger Thai and Chinese further surged by Rs230 per kg, fixed at Rs620-650 per kg, both sold at Rs800-1000 per kg. Cucumber Farm reduced by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs47-50 per kg, sold at Rs60-80 per kg, cucumber local was fixed at Rs62-65 per kg, sold at Rs120-150 per kg.

Brinjal price gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs57-60 per kg, sold at Rs100-140 per kg. Biter gourd further increased by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs76-80 per kg, sold at Rs100-140 per kg.

The price Spinach unchanged at Rs23-25 at Rs50-60 per kg. Zucchini farm unchanged at 66-70 per kg, sold at Rs100-120 per kg, and Zucchini long at Rs38-40 per kg, sold at Rs80-100 per kg, Zucchini local further reduced by Rs50 per kg, fixed at Rs114-120 per kg, sold at Rs160-200 per kg.

The lemon Chinese further gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs248-260 per kg, sold at Rs600 per kg. Pumpkin was reduced by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs47-50 per kg, sold at Rs80-140 per kg.

Sweet pumpkin was unchanged at Rs28-30 per kg, sold at Rs60-80 per kg. Lady finger was further reduced by Rs30 per kg, fixed at Rs142-150 per kg, sold at Rs180-200 per kg.

Arum was unchanged at Rs167-175 per kg, sold at Rs250-300 per kg. Luffa was gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs114-120 per kg, sold at Rs150-160 per kg.

Green chili declined by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs100-105 per kg, sold at Rs180-200 per kg. Capsicum price was also further gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs62-65 per kg, sold at Rs100-140 per kg.

Price of cauliflower was further gained by Rs25 per kg, fixed at Rs110-115 per kg, sold at Rs180-200 per kg, and cabbage was unchanged at 28-30 per kg, sold at Rs120-150 per kg. Carrot Chinese unchanged at Rs42-45 per kg, sold at Rs160-200 per kg.

Fenugreek (Methi) unchanged at Rs76-80 per kg, not sold. Pea price further increased by Rs35 per kg, fixed at Rs176-185 per kg, sold at Rs250-300 per kg.

Beetroot was sold at Rs250 per kg. Coriander was sold at Rs80 per bundle.

The price of different variety of apples further gained by Rs5 per kg fixed at Rs210-365 per kg, sold at Rs250-800 per kg. The price of Banana A-category reduced by Rs30 per dozen, fixed at Rs188-210 per dozen, sold at Rs300-350 per dozen, and B-category by Rs40 per dozen, fixed at Rs134-150 dozen, sold at Rs250 per dozen. C-grade was fixed at Rs99-100 per dozen, sold at Rs150-200 per dozen.

Guava was further increased by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs120-170 per kg, sold at Rs250-300 per kg. Dates were fixed at Rs430-460 per kg, sold at Rs900 to 2000 per kg.

Papaya further gained by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs257-270 per kg, sold at Rs300-350 per kg. Melon was increased by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs55-95 per kg, sold at Rs130-150 per kg.

Watermelon was reduced by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs33-35 per kg, sold at Rs40-80 per kg. Lokat was further reduced by Rs35 per kg, fixed at Rs124-130 per kg, sold at Rs150-200 per kg.

Cantaloupe was gained by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs81-85 per kg, sold at Rs120-160 per kg.

Peach was reduced by Rs25 per kg, fixed at Rs115-185 per kg, sold at Ra 150-300 per kg.

Phalsa was fixed at Rs215-225 per kg, sold at Rs250-280 per kg.

Apricot yellow was gained by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs181-190 per kg, sold at Rs250-300 per kg.
