Teachers demand arrest of colleagues’ killers
PARACHINAR: Teachers here on Saturday staged a protest demanding the immediate arrest and punishment of those responsible for the killing of seven persons, including four teachers, at Teri Mengal High School two years ago.
Various rallies were taken out from various schools that culminated into a large gathering at the Parachinar Press Club. Led by the Teachers’ Union president Abid Ali, the demonstrators included educators, students and community members voiced their frustration over the lack of justice and worsening security situation in the region.
Speaking on the occasion, union leaders, including Abid Ali, Zahid, Marjan Ali, Gulab Hussain, Agha Ameen Hussain and Syed Sabir Hussain condemned the authorities’ inaction. “Even after two years, the killers are roaming free. How can peace be restored when justice remains elusive?” asked one speaker.
The leaders demanded that the perpetrators be arrested without further delay and given exemplary punishment to deter similar attacks in the future. They also called for immediate measures to ensure the safety of teachers, who they said continue to work under constant threat.
