ICA to elect Executive Council tomorrow
ISLAMABAD: The elections for Executive Council of the Islamabad Chess Association (ICA) for the term 2025-29 will be held tomorrow (Thursday).
The General Body of the ICA held a significant meeting on April 27, 2025, chaired by Vice President Munir Sadiq in the absence of the president (resigned) and inactive Senior Vice President.
During the session, key decisions were made regarding the association’s upcoming elections and the status of affiliated clubs. The elections for the new term (2025-2029) are scheduled at Jinnah Drive Range, Lake View Park, and will be conducted under the supervision of a three-member commission led by Prof. Dr. Asghar Mughal.
To ensure fairness and transparency, the electoral process will be observed by the Islamabad Sports Board, the Chess Federation of Pakistan, and the Chess Association of Punjab. Additionally, the General Body reviewed the eligibility of affiliated clubs and decided to suspend Fisher Chess Club due to its continued absence from meetings since its creation. Only those clubs verified by the Islamabad Sports Board will be eligible to participate in the elections.
